SOUNDFX

FAQ

How SoundFX works.

One question at a time — how a sound gets made, shaped, trimmed and exported.

How do I make a sound?

Describe it in plain language, the way you'd describe it to someone else — "sci-fi energy blaster with a metallic pitch-down tail". Set the length and how literally the prompt should be followed, then generate. The raw clip gets its own transport, so you can audition it on its own before you touch anything else.

Can I shape the sound after it is generated?

Yes. Build an ordered chain of effects and drag them into the order you want. Bypass any stage on its own to A/B it against the rest of the chain. Adjustments apply while the clip is playing, so it never jumps back to the start to preview a change.

What effects are in the rack?

Dynamics, EQ, filters, reverb, delay, distortion, modulation, spatial and utility. Processing order changes the sound, so the chain always shows you that order and lets you rearrange it.

Can I trim the clip and fade it?

Set in and out points on the waveform, either by dragging the handles or by typing exact numeric values — the regions you've excluded dim so you can see what's left. Fade curves are picked by shape rather than by name.

What can I export?

WAV at 16-bit PCM if you're taking it into a DAW, or MP3 at 320 kbps for everywhere else. One click, straight to a file that drops into a session.
